India’s First Hyperloop Test Track

A 410-meter-long Hyperloop test track has been built in India, marking an important achievement in the field of transport innovation. This project was developed by Indian Railways in collaboration with IIT Madras' Avishkar Hyperloop team, with additional support from a start-up named TuTr.


What is Hyperloop Technology?

Hyperloop is a high-speed transportation system that operates in a vacuum tube. Special pods or capsules run through these low-pressure tubes, using air pressure to move passengers quickly from one place to another. Each pod can carry around 24 to 28 passengers, making it an efficient and cost-effective alternative to traditional transport systems like railways or metros.


Origin of Hyperloop

The idea of Hyperloop was initially introduced by Swiss professor Merkel Zufferey in the 1970s. Although some work started on this concept in the 1990s, it lost momentum when the project was discontinued in 2009. However, in 2012, Elon Musk reignited global interest in this technology by publishing the Hyperloop Alpha Paper and promoting its potential.
